In Illinois, Driving Under the Influence (DUI) is an offense as set forth in the Illinois Vehicle Code. A person arrested and charged with a DUI faces criminal penalties and sanctions, as well as civil penalties, in the form of loss of driving privileges.
The DUI laws are always changing as new legislation is passed and becomes law. Since the DUI laws have change no less than 20 times in the last 10 years, this section is intended to give the reader a general overview and may not be current.
At the Roberts Law Firm, we stay up-to-date on the ever-changing laws and procedures as they pertain to our clients who have been charged with a DUI and/or other driving offenses. Brian Roberts attends yearly continuing legal education specifically tailored to defending DUI cases, is a member of the National College for DUI Defense, and has the knowledge and experience he has gained from representing people in hundreds of DUI cases over the last 12 years.
Too often potential clients come in and want the entire experience to go away as quickly as possible, just so that the matter can be put behind them. But Roberts Law Firm knows the law and court processes, and uses their knowledge to get the best results possible. They look at all of the evidence before making any decisions on how to proceed with each individual case. Evidence includes, but is not limited to, police logs and reports, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and any chemical tests (blood, breath, or urine). Evidence is not only important in the criminal case, but in the civil matter as it relates to the suspension of your driver’s license. At Roberts Law Firm, we do our best to save our clients’ driver’s licenses and driving privileges.
